As you will be aware from the media there have been a number of incidents involving canoes/kayaks on either coastguard monitored open water (Lough Neagh and Erne) or tidal water over the past two years.
Both the RNLI and HM Coastguard were becoming concerned that there was maybe a trend starting to appear on this, particularlywhere it involved rafted canoes with large amounts of kit.
The Canoe Association Northern Ireland along with Tollymore National Outdoor Centre will be offering three free Open Canoe Rafting Workshops throughout 2015. Each workshop will be limited to 15 places.
So if you use rafted open canoes on sheltered water and plan to go out in more open water then this workshop will give you the new ideas to prepare you for going on these trips.

Believe us when we say we are equally keen to get outside with you and help you reach your goals and complete that journey.
How do we know? Because every day we get emails and phone calls asking when will courses resume and with every NI Executive mention of easing of restrictions the emails and phone calls are more frequent……
