For this Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Training (PSRT) pre-requisites are as follows;
Participants need to either hold the Paddle Explore Award or equivalent ability, due to the paddling environment and the craft control required to complete the course
The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course is available to all ages. Tutors should check participants’ suitability, as well as having appropriate mechanisms for anyone under 18
↓ Course summary
Throughout the course, candidates will explore simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the tools to solve common paddling issues. The course content focuses on rescuing from the paddlers specific craft and covers equipment, safety frameworks, as well as a range of rescues including contact and towing rescues, self-rescues and deep water rescues.
The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course is a 6-hour programme that consists of 6 modules.

↓ Who is the course for?
This Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Training is aimed at all paddlers - open boaters, kayakers, sit on top, racing boats, sea kayakers, etc, who paddle in a sheltered environment.
It is a useful award for those paddlers who are working towards independent paddling.
The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Training is a pre-requisite for those wishing to complete their Paddlesport Instructor course.
Our equipment stores are by far the best around with a stock of over 100 boats and with matching paddling apparel there is plenty to choose from.
All you will need to bring is footwear for the water, a long sleeved top for under your wet suit and a towel /toiletries. Be prepared to get very wet!!
The following is a list of essential equipment for this course and when operating in a sheltered environment. All are available from our stores but if you do have your own do bring them along.

Participants are encouraged to bring any personal equipment so they get the opportunity to be coached using the equipment they are most familiar with.
↓ What does my course fee include?
The course fee includes lunch, kit and equipment, in-course transport, coaching, tea and coffee.
Accommodation:
Your course is a one day course, so accommodation is not provided. However, we do have changing rooms, showers and lockers available for your use.
We can also offer additional nights’ accommodation in our comfortable ensuite bedrooms either at the beginning or end of a course for an extra £26 per person. This is a great way to further enhance your time at Tollymore and savour the beautiful majestic setting that the Centre has to offer. So why not extend your stay and make a weekend out of it.
Catering:
Our catering is first class, noted both for the quality and quantity of the food that we provide. Your course is catered, so you will be provided with a packed lunch for the day. You may however wish to bring your own personal snack food for use during the course. You can fill a flask with tea or coffee at the Centre if required.
