Please note this course will be delivered over two weeks and following are the dates for each week:
Part 1 of 2 will be delivered on 12th - 16th August and Part 2 will be delivered on the 19th - 23rd August 2024
Prior to attending the training course, you must register with Mountain Leader Training UK. To register, you will need to submit a comprehensive logbook outlining previous experience, including evidence of leading a minimum of 30 multi-pitch routes at VS or above, 10 sport climbs at 6a or above and 20 quality days leading others in the hills since you gained you Mountain Leader Award. You must hold the Mountain Leader Award (summer).

This is a ten-day course covering all the aspects of the MCI scheme.
This course will be based at Tollymore National Mountain Centre
We will travel to a number of other locations to make the most of the training potential.
The course is staffed by experienced Tollymore staff with a broad base of experience in all aspects of the scheme.
↓ Who is the course for?
Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor Training is for all who have an interest in instructing all aspects of rock climbing and mountaineering skills in summer conditions in the UK and Ireland.
It is important that all potential candidates are familiar with training pre-requisites prior to attending. This ensures that everyone on the course can maximise the value of the training.
Bring any of your own personal rock climbing / outdoor clothing and kit such as, waterproof jacket and trousers, boots, fleece jacket, hat and gloves, harness and rack, flask, water bottle, Mourne map (1:25,000), guide book and spare clothes.
Please ensure you bring along a device which will allow you to ‘stopwatch’ your time.
Tollymore can supply most of the equipment you require for this course but it is preferable to use your own were possible even if it’s just a chance for your instructor to comment on your kit and give advice.
↓ What does my course fee include?
The course fee includes kit, equipment, in course transport, coaching, food and accommodation.
Course accommodation will be in shared twin ensuite rooms. If you would prefer not to share a room, single occupancy may be available for an additional charge.
The non-residential course fee includes all lunches and evening meals, but does not include accommodation or breakfasts.

As you are probably aware the current advice from the Northern Ireland Executive, Health Promotion Agency NI and Health & Safety Executive NI, as well as our expert group within Sport NI is that we cannot deliver any face to face courses for our customers including use of the Hot Rock Climbing Wall.
We know that you and many others like minded folk are very keen to get back on track with your plans to attend and complete a range of personal skills training and qualifications in a range of disciplines.
