↓ Course summary
The Rock Climbing Leader Award Multi-Pitch Training course is endorsed by MTBI, and as such is recognised as valid throughout Ireland. It does not cover the skills required to access crags in mountainous terrain or those crags requiring a technical approach or exit.
This is a two-day and two-evening course which will deliver training in most aspects of the syllabus.
The MPA training is a predominately practical course with some theory sessions mixed through.
Your instructors will take into account candidates objectives and aims whilst ensuring delivery of the syllabus.
↓ Who is the course for?
This Rock Climbing Leader Award Multi-Pitch Training course is for those who wish to take responsibility for climbing with students on a multi-pitch crag environment or climbing wall.
Candidates should ensure they have fulfilled all MPA training course pre-requisites prior to attending.
Given these pre-requisites, candidates are expected to have a good basic understanding of the rock climbing systems and take some responsibility for their own and others safety.
Bring any of your own personal rock climbing / outdoor clothing and kit such as waterproof jacket and trousers, boots, fleece jacket, hat and gloves, harness and rack, flask, water bottle, guidebook, and spare clothes. It’s best to bring plenty of lighter layers and avoid cotton if possible as it offers little heat and takes ages to dry out if wet or sweaty.
Tollymore can supply most of the equipment you require for this course but it is preferable to use your own where possible even if it’s just a chance for your instructor to comment on your kit and give advice.
↓ What does my course fee include?
The Multi-Pitch Award Training course fee includes kit, equipment, in course transport, coaching, food, and accommodation.
Course accommodation will be in shared twin ensuite rooms. If you would prefer not to share a room, single occupancy may be available for an additional charge.

We know that you and many others like minded folk are very keen to get back on track with your plans to attend and complete a range of personal skills training and qualifications in a range of disciplines.
Believe us when we say we are equally keen to get outside with you and help you reach your goals and complete that journey.
How do we know? Because every day we get emails and phone calls asking when will courses resume and with every NI Executive mention of easing of restrictions the emails and phone calls are more frequent……
